So what’s ShareALift.ie all about

Information and instructions for the proper planning of a ShareALift, as well as the recommended calculation of cost are explained here.

First of all we have put a registration process in place to ensure all users entering share requests and lift offers are legitimate and sincere.

Only registered users can enter requests and Lifts and are able to access the contact information of a Lift offer.

Using the site is totally free of charge.

Registration requires you to state basic contact details and a username and password.

Any contact information stays with ShareALift.ie and is under no circumstances passed on to third parties.

Once registered you can log in with your username and password anytime you like.

Once you have found the Lift you were searching for, the first thing to do is to contact the driver via telephone or e-mail.

Determine the following points when making contact with the driver:

• Will the trip definitely take place on the stated date, confirm date, time and route
• What is the cost of the shared petrol price for the Lift
• Arrange a meeting point in a public place, it is not recommended to exchange addresses in order to meet for the Lift.
• Where does the driver drop you at your destination
• Make sure to exchange telephone numbers and names
• Find out car model and registration
• Find out anything else of interest to you, for example if there is room for luggage, the number of other passengers, smoker or non-smoker etc.

To be absolutely certain that the Lift is in fact taking place, we recommend getting in contact with the driver 1 day before to confirm that everything stays as agreed.

Please also call the driver if for any reason you are not able to take the Lift.

E-mails or text messages are easily missed.

INSURANCE

A Third Party Insurance covers all passengers in the case of an accident.
There is no cover if the owner of the car is using his private vehicle for profit orientated, commercial activities.

Payment of operation expenses is not considered a profit orientated or commercial activity.

FEES

ShareALift.ie is totally free of charge.

• We are not an agency. We provide a platform for users to enter their offers and requests.
• Drivers and searchers are able to find and place Lifts without the intervention of ShareALift.ie.
• Both agree on fee and meeting point by either telephone or e-mail.
• The shared petrol cost per person should be fixed according to the number of passengers. Our recommendation for a fare fee is the total of the petrol cost for the intended journey +10-15% divided by all persons in the car (incl. The driver)
• The fee should be determined before the start of the trip and it is recommended to carry the correct change as it could be difficult to find change for a larger note.

SAFETY OF PERSONAL DATA

ShareALift.ie requires you to give sensitive data as your e-mail address and telephone number.

• To protect you against spam your e-mail address on ShareALift.ie is displayed as an image instead as text.
• It is recommended to use free mail addresses like yahoo or hotmail.
• Do not give your company’s e-mail address.
